There’s nothing like getting a big, delicious avocado in The Organic Place fruit and veggie bag. I love how they can add that extra tasty goodness to almost anything, as well as all those amazing health benefits. Vitamins, folate, magnesium, potassium; you name it, avocado has it. We love it at our place as a […]

Hands up if your children love ice cream? Hands up if you get the guilts dishing it out for dessert multiple nights in a row? Guilty as charged here. My children will ask for ice cream every day of the week, whether it is thirty plus degrees or three degrees! Strange little weirdos. . .Their […]

This Green Bean Risotto is a wonderfully easy meal with the delicious hint of pesto. It is perfect for a meat-free Spring dinner with a side of fresh salad but could also be incorporated with a favourite cut of meat. The method below is for traditional cooking but it doesn’t take long to get it […]
Strawberries are back in season and it is such a popular fruit with kids as well as adults. It’s unfortunate that our Aussie farmers are suffering after recent strawberry tampering. We’ve all seen the recent media coverage of growers having to dump ridiculous amounts of strawberries. How about we support our farmers, still buy strawberries, and […]
When our lives get busy it is easy to fall back on ready made food. Luckily for me we have an amazing local cafe that makes delicious home-style pies and pastries which I often buy and freeze for crazy days. I recently bought the most delicious roast veg and egg pie there as a lunch option for myself and saw that they also sold them in a family size. It was simple to heat up in the oven at the end of a work day and serve with some steamed veg from The Organic Place.
It got me thinking I should try and replicate my own pie to freeze. Whilst there is a lot of cooking time, unless you’re using leftover roast veggies, it was very easy to make. This dish is great for Meat Free Monday or to be portioned out for lunches or even breakfast!
Vegetarian Lasagna is a great family dish for so many reasons. Firstly, you can disguise a plethora of vegetables between that familiar bolognese and cheese sauce combination that most children love. It is also an excellent meal to prepare in advance to keep in the freezer for a busy day. Even better, the longer you […]
Packaged food items available to buy on shelves in Australia are required by law to have certain labelling. There’s been much awareness raised around the importance of reading the labels on our food; we know we should be doing it so that we understand exactly what we’re eating but sometimes the labels can be confusing (and often deceiving). When […]
It’s the second week of the school holidays here in Melbourne and I don’t know about you but I always find this particular holiday break a bit of a struggle. It’s cold, often raining and just a bit miserable really. Most kids love being outdoors and they can go a bit stir crazy when cooped […]
