Marita is a busy wife and mum who runs Virtually Better Business, which supports companies by managing their administrative duties. Marita chose to go organic when she realised various additives and preservatives were affecting her family’s health. Here is her organic story.
Tell us a bit about yourself. . .
I am an online business manager, supporting small business in their administrative needs. I have a husband and a primary school aged daughter living at home. We also have two older children who pop in and out for meals at times.
What made you make the change to organic?
I started changing our diet a few years ago when I realised the effect unnecessary additives and preservatives in food were having on our daughter. This led me down the path to also investigate organic produce.
What do you think are the benefits of eating organic?
As I grew up on a large property in rural Victoria, I was lucky enough to eat mainly organic food as a child, and probably blissfully unaware that this was the case. The main benefit I see is that the food tastes so much nicer as it is generally straight from the farmer. I can also be assured there are no hidden nasties.
What barriers have you come across?
Organic produce can be slightly more expensive, but the quality is second to none.
What do you wish more people knew about organic produce?
It tastes so much nicer.
Anything else you would like to share?
We have a couple of autoimmune diseases in our family. If I can help by feeding my family as natural as possible without the hidden chemicals, that can only be a good thing.
