It’s that time of the year where we are inevitably exposed to aisles upon aisles of sweet treats and have to come to terms with the fact that we will probably eat more of them than we should over the Easter break. But don’t despair! Organic Times, a Melbourne based family business, sell a more natural, organic alternative of your favourite chocolate and confectionary products, so that you can have your delicious Easter eggs with a fraction of the guilt.
1) Tell us a bit about yourself and Organic Times. . .
I’m the Marketing Manager at Organic Times and I’ve been here for more than nine years. I love that I work for a company that produces products everyone loves and that prides itself on being honest and customer focused.
Organic Times is a Melbourne based family business that was established in 1999 by two tight-knit cousins, who shared a passion for fantastic food and a sense of responsibility to protect our wonderful planet.
It is the company’s mission to bring a more natural, organic alternative to the confectionary market, giving greater choice without compromise to our customers.
Right from the beginning we have been genuinely focused on promoting organics, encouraging sustainable living and providing delicious, quality treats the whole family can enjoy.
This time of year, it’s all about our amazing organic chocolate Easter Eggs and Bunnies, however our products also include chocolate coated fruit, nuts and licorice, Little Gems, Rocky Road Bars, gourmet cookies, grass-fed butter and milk powder, and pantry ingredients.
2) Why did you decide you wanted to create an organic product?
We all enjoy a treat from time-to-time and considering the many artificial additives, GMOs, palm-oil and other expendable food processes we are unwittingly subjected to, we wanted to provide a range of quality products that not only taste delicious but are made from certified organic ingredients that are better for us and Mother Nature too.
3) Where do you source your ingredients from?
Our certified organic ingredients are sourced from around the world, from suppliers who share the same passion and ethics as us. Ideally, we look to home first for our ingredients, however certified organic ingredients are not always readily available locally.
For example, we are proud to use certified organic macadamias that are farmed here in Australia by Wodonga Park in Queensland in our Organic Milk and Dark Chocolate Macadamias and our White Chocolate Macadamia Cookies. Their macadamias are grown using biodynamical practices, incorporating natural fertilisers and remedies ensuring no harmful chemicals have been used in the process.
4) What is a typical day in your business like?
Organic Times is a family owned and run business where everyone who works here is treated like family. Like in most small businesses the team wear many hats to get the job done and it’s all hands-on deck to get our products on the shelves.
Many a morning you arrive to the smell of baking cookies, a reception desk with a bowl filled with rocky road samples and a great team chatting about the latest food trends or maybe what happened on last night’s telly.
5) What do you wish more people understood about organic products like those from Organic Times?
Some people see the word “organic” and think healthy, tasteless, boring but for us “organic” means the best of the best, top quality, as nature intended and premium. We use the best ingredients available to us, to produce quality products that taste amazing while also giving you the peace of mind that you are doing the best for you and your family. With us, being certified organic means no short cuts have been taken and this is how we like it.
6) Is there anything else you would like to share with us?
We just want to thank everyone who supports our brand and loves our products. It makes all the hard work worth it, knowing people are enjoying our goodies. Happy Easter!
