Mamma Knows Best: Why The Organic Place Loves To Employ and Support Mums.
If you are a regular customer of The Organic Place you may be familiar with the story of its Founder, Brooke, who dreamed up the idea of the business when she was sitting up with her third child on a sleep deprived night. You may have also noticed that The Organic Place seems to employ many mothers as well. Indeed you’ve probably seen their smiling faces when you’ve met them at the door to receive your bag every Thursday.
It is no coincidence that this beautiful family business dreamed up by one super mum, employs so many other mums and strives to be a support to our customer base, primarily mothers too. Here’s why we share the love with other mums at The Organic Place. . .
When Brooke came up with the idea for The Organic Place she was well and truly in the thick of this mum gig and as I’m sure many of us can attest, while you might be surrounded by little people all day long, it can be quite an isolating time. Brooke, like many of us who stayed at home, really appreciated when someone came to deliver a package to her door because it meant that she could interact with another adult, (and of course, who doesn’t like receiving packages? Am I right?). With this in mind, Brooke envisioned her business, not only as delivering healthy, organic produce to people’s door, but also realised that for busy mums like herself, interpersonal contact was a welcome connection for so many customers in a similar situation.
Brooke likewise thought that by employing other mums, and offering flexible work hours and a convenient workspace (where people could bring their children if need be), she would also be helping other women. As our customer base is primarily busy mums, it also makes sense to have mums delivering to them who can relate to their situation.
With so many mums looking to social media for support and connectedness these days, The Organic Place seeks to inform, educate, entertain and provide a space for like-minded people to share recipes and ideas. It is helpful that The Organic Place’s social media manager, Katrina, is a mum as well. She is all too aware of mum-brain herself, and other traits that come with parenting, that she may give extra gentle reminders for when you need to order by, just as one example. The Organic Place Community Group Facebook Page is another model of how customer input and the sharing of ideas is celebrated. It really has a lovely community feel where people are supported and can be themselves without judgement.
The Organic Place loves to give back to the community by supporting mums as workers within the company, and mums as customers. We strive to bring a bit of sanity and enjoyment to their lives because we’re all in this motherhood thing together and we know how tough it can be. Thank goodness for that super-mum Brooke and her amazing idea to deliver organic fruit and veg to our homes – it’s a service that stands out from the rest!
