Introducing Chantelle Bell- Our resident naturopath

We’ve got a lot of exciting things happening at The Organic Place and tonight we’re going to let you in on a secret. We’ve welcomed a new member to our team! Chantelle is going to be our resident naturopath, offering regular workshops and fortnightly consultations to our Organic Place community from our home at the Western BACE.

Welcome Chantelle!

Tell us a bit about yourself, your background and what you do.

I am a mum, cook, cleaner, mediator, the list goes on….I’m always busy but I love it! Apart from all of that I an experienced Naturopath with over 10 years of clinical practice. I have a Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy) 2007, and recently completed a Graduate Certificate in Evidence-Based Complementary Medicine. I am also a member of the National Herbalists Association of Australia and have contributed a few times to Nature and Health Magazine and my clinic.

I run successful online 5 and 10 day detox programs, that over 1000 tired and exhausted women have signed up for over the past three years and my clinic, Ascot Vale Natural Therapies has just been announced as a top four finalist for the clinic of the year, Industry awards by ATMS and Nature and Health.

What are you passionate about?

I love helping Mums who are feeling rundown and tired to get their mojo back! Mums always put themselves last, that’s a known fact!

What is your approach to Naturopathy?

As a naturopath, one of my main goals is to help you feel better and achieve great health. When women work with me, I educate them on all the aspects of their health, including diet and nutrition. These are tools that they continue to use throughout their life to keep their health on track. They are also able to pass them onto their family ensuring they develop the same healthy habits. I work with my clients, with reality in mind. I know that asking a mum to prepare two different meals at least three times a day can be quite unrealistic, so I make sure I offer you family friendly solutions.

One of my naturopathic principles is to treat the body as a whole; everything is connected. It’s a real shame as a society that we are fixated on symptomatically treating and not looking at the cause. Another naturopathic principle is ‘treat the cause, not the symptoms’. How about we get to the bottom of the problem instead of covering it with band-aid solutions that come unstuck bits.

What are your main areas of expertise?

  • Digestive problems: Irritable bowel syndrome, diarrhoea, constipation, bloating, wind, tender and sore stomach, fullness and uncomfortableness after meals
  • Sleep disturbance: trouble falling asleep and/or staying asleep, waking between 2am – 4am
  • Candida overgrowth: thrush, white coat on tongue, bloating
  • Anxiety and stress
  • Hypothyroidism/Hashimoto’s disease: underactive thyroid
  • Weight loss

I work with mums who have:

  • Low, low, low, energy (aka always tired!)
  • Poor sleep
  • Tummy troubles – bloating, wind, constipation, uncomfortable after meals
  • Stress, anxiety, worry – especially if it keeps you up at night
  • Excess weight

What can we expect in a consultation with you?

I talk a lot! In our first consultation (which goes for an hour) I will ask you every possible question about your health….feel free to bring notes. I will listen to your story; there will be laughter and sometimes even tears.  As previously mentioned, I use simple and realistic ways to help you  get your health back on track. You will receive a full health assessment and treatment plan so you know exactly the path we are travelling on. We are in this together! Then we catch up anywhere between two to four weeks later, case dependent of course. All future consultations are booked at this point in alignment with your treatment plan.
