The best thing about risotto is that it makes everything taste better! Sad carrots, that half a zucchini you have left, a handful of spinach, one or two lonely mushrooms: et voila! creamy, hearty, filling deliciousness! You’ll find that’s exactly what in this risotto, but it works just as well with the bits and bobs […]
Such a fun alternative to the ubiquitous spaghetti and sauce! Use any shaped pasta you have on hand (or have been able to get at the shops), but penne and spirals seem to hold up to the extra heat quite well. Add any veggies you like – some winners are usually grated carrot, grated zucchini, […]
What could be better for family movie night than Beef Nachos? This favourite snack can be easily made into a filling meal. Simply add some protein to the sauce for an extra ample layer. You could make individual plates or bowls for each family member or you might choose a larger plate for everyone to […]
This is my favourite way to have potatoes. Though probably not as healthy as baked or steamed potatoes, it is absolutely delicious and always lovely for special occasions. It’s also a great time to try out all the amazing Schulz dairy products that we sell at The Organic Place.
This Green Bean Risotto is a wonderfully easy meal with the delicious hint of pesto. It is perfect for a meat-free Spring dinner with a side of fresh salad but could also be incorporated with a favourite cut of meat. The method below is for traditional cooking but it doesn’t take long to get it […]
When our lives get busy it is easy to fall back on ready made food. Luckily for me we have an amazing local cafe that makes delicious home-style pies and pastries which I often buy and freeze for crazy days. I recently bought the most delicious roast veg and egg pie there as a lunch option for myself and saw that they also sold them in a family size. It was simple to heat up in the oven at the end of a work day and serve with some steamed veg from The Organic Place.
It got me thinking I should try and replicate my own pie to freeze. Whilst there is a lot of cooking time, unless you’re using leftover roast veggies, it was very easy to make. This dish is great for Meat Free Monday or to be portioned out for lunches or even breakfast!
A vegetarian take on a traditional fish pie, this is going to be your new favourite dinner. Summery veg and herbs are simmered in a rich sauce with a hint of cheese, and the whole thing is topped with a savoury buttery mash before making friends in a hot oven. It’s an irresistible combination and […]
It’s pretty hard to beat a savoury stew, but when it’s topped with hot mashed potatoes its nothing but glorious. In fact, the only thing that could make it better is to top the stew with Irish champ mashed potatoes, a cheesy, oniony, potatoey conglomeration of deliciousness. This shepherd’s pie is super easy to make […]
This melty jumble of Greek-inspired flavours is one of the single greatest (and easiest) ways of eating vegetables. Crispy, delicious potatoes are tossed with summery veg like tomatoes, zucchini and herbs and baked until soft and golden, and a bright burst of lemon squeezed over for the finishing touch makes this a dish you will […]
