I must admit I have never carved my own halloween pumpkin before but I’m really excited to be doing it with the kids this year. We plan to head down to our local supermarket where you can pick up the carving pumpkins for around $2.00 to $2.50 per kg. If you’re a little cheeky and short for time you might just be able to pick up the store carved pumpkin like I did a few years back!
Things you will need:
- A pumpkin
- Serrated knife
- A permanent marker
- A spoon
- Candles or LED lights
Using a permanent marker draw your pattern onto your pumpkin, making sure you pick something suitable to your ability.
Using a serrated knife cut upon the top of your pumpkin wide enough to fit your hand in & using a spoon scoop out the middle of your pumpkin
Again using your knife carefully cut out your pattern, slowly moving your knife around the shapes.
Once the knife has gone all the way around carefully push the shape out; repeat for remaining shapes.
Now all you have to do is add a candle or some LED lights to light up your pumpkin to scare those trick or treaters as the walk up your front path!
We will be using the IKEA battery operated LED light you can purchase for around $2.00
