Lebanese Green Beans

Allow me to make a case for overcooked beans: they are AMAZING. Sure they go a little more olive-coloured than the snap-steamed bright green that we’re used to (and perhaps reminds us a little of the overcooked veg our nans might serve up when we were kids), but as far as vegetables go, beans can […]

Veggie Quinoa Salad

Fancy enough for a dinner party, filling enough for a lunchbox – she’s a winner! Personally I love the mix of soft and crunchy veggies, all wrapped up in fresh herbs, but please do use whatever you have on hand. The dressing is a sweet/piquant mix of red wine vinegar and honey, but is accommodating […]

Rockmelon and Prosciutto Salad

Rockmelon and Prosciutto Salad

Many years ago, pre children Ben and myself were fortunate to travel round Europe. I remember arriving in Spain and there being copious amounts of cured meat hanging from shops and restaurants and tapas in abundance. As we sat to have an afternoon drink and admire the culture were were given a piece of rockmelon […]

Simple Spring Salad

As a busy mum we tend not to not put ourselves and our eating habits first. How many of you eat breakfast standing up, have lunch on the run or skip a meal altogether? It’s easy to let our own health slide and to become rundown. Luckily for us, we can rely on The Organic Place to deliver us fresh, delicious, organic produce and products that can give us the extra boost our tired and sleep deprived bodies need.

Of course there’s a million different salad combinations you can try but I really love this one because as well as tasting great, it is full of super ingredients. Eggs are the most amazing food that keep us fuller for longer and provide us with protein and vitamins. Kehoe’s Kitchen beetroot sauerkraut provides us with probiotics for a healthy gut. Avocado and olive oil are good fats. Feta is a delicious touch of dairy. The greens in the salad, of course, are packed with amazing minerals and fibre.

You can throw this salad together in the time it takes to boil an egg, and from there on, you could even eat it one-handed if need be. Mums with clingy bubs, you’ll know what I’m talking about here.
Celebrate the change in Spring weather and whip up this salad for yourself. Your taste buds, and your body, will thank you.

Organic Coleslaw

Growing up I was never really fond of coleslaw and I’m not sure why because these days I can’t get enough of it! I have no idea where this recipe came from but I can tell you it is the best coleslaw you will ever try! I like to serve it as a side salad when having a BBQ or have it on top of baked potatoes. And it accompanies slow cooked pulled pork wraps brilliantly!
