On our recent trip overseas we visited Malta because my husband has family there and our children wanted to see a piece of their history. We were also very eager to try an authentic pastizzi. In Malta they traditionally have either spinach and ricotta or mushy peas as a filling. Both are equally delicious. In […]
Ben and myself are very lucky if we get to eat mango in our home. When mango season is here the kids run straight to the van as I drive into the driveway every Thursday afternoon shouting “are there any mangoes this week Mum?” I’ve since worked out the best away around this to make […]
There’s nothing like getting a big, delicious avocado in The Organic Place fruit and veggie bag. I love how they can add that extra tasty goodness to almost anything, as well as all those amazing health benefits. Vitamins, folate, magnesium, potassium; you name it, avocado has it. We love it at our place as a […]
This Green Bean Risotto is a wonderfully easy meal with the delicious hint of pesto. It is perfect for a meat-free Spring dinner with a side of fresh salad but could also be incorporated with a favourite cut of meat. The method below is for traditional cooking but it doesn’t take long to get it […]
When our lives get busy it is easy to fall back on ready made food. Luckily for me we have an amazing local cafe that makes delicious home-style pies and pastries which I often buy and freeze for crazy days. I recently bought the most delicious roast veg and egg pie there as a lunch option for myself and saw that they also sold them in a family size. It was simple to heat up in the oven at the end of a work day and serve with some steamed veg from The Organic Place.
It got me thinking I should try and replicate my own pie to freeze. Whilst there is a lot of cooking time, unless you’re using leftover roast veggies, it was very easy to make. This dish is great for Meat Free Monday or to be portioned out for lunches or even breakfast!
This is one of my favourite sauces because it is so tasty and you can make it in the time it takes to cook your pasta. It is an excellent one to whip up on a busy work night. We usually serve it with homemade ricotta gnocchi or ravioli. In fact, it is a great meat-free […]
This is the perfect, quick and easy vegetarian dish after a busy day of work or wrangling children. Cook the pasta while the sauce is simmering and before long you will have a delicious, veggie packed meal that everyone will enjoy. You can use a store-bought pesto sauce or create your own from one of […]
I love cooking pies. To me they are homely and go hand in hand with this cold Melbourne weather. Try these Organic Eggplant & Mushroom Pies today.
Perfect of that little vegetarian in you!
If you are a fan of Japanese flavours, this is a simple way to incorporate them into a healthy dish. Better still, you can tailor the amount of miso and soy sauce you use to suit your family’s tastes. This recipe works best with a wok, and using sushi rice adds to the flavour of the dish.
