A quick supper dish that will be on your table in minutes – with the helpful addition of extra veg! You could, of course, use any flavour ravioli or tortellini, etc – but we think it tastes best with the cheese versions. To jazz it up even further, you could add fresh spinach, green peas […]
I sometimes buy cuts of meat that we wouldn’t use on a regular basis to try new things. On this particular occasion I had 500g of Cherry Tree Organic’s chicken mince in the freezer so I got to work and started Googling recipes. I came across this Honey-Glazed Miso Chicken Meatball Subs Coleslaw recipe on the […]
Perfect for a weeknight meal, lazy weekend brunch, light lunch or midnight snack, this carby, savoury treat is everything you want from a potato. Of course you can doctor them up as you please – some chilli and coriander for an Asian twist, feta and lemon for a Greek slant, peas and parsley for a […]
Cold soup? Sure it sounds a bit strange to a culture that didn’t really grow up with it, but the Spanish can’t have been wrong for all these years! Gazpacho is an incredibly delicious offering, and just the thing for a light meal on a stinking hot day. I like it as cold as absolutely […]
What an absolute party in your mouth, this salad is. Crisp-tender fresh organic broccoli mixes with sweet cranberries and crunchy pumpkin seeds in a tangy, creamy dressing for the salad of your dreams. Mix up the pumpkin seeds for toasted almonds or sunflower seeds, throw in some lettuce or change up the red onion for […]
I’ve been cooking this recipe I found one day in Taste magazine for many years now. At the time it was a combination of foods both Ben and I had never really eaten but when we did, oh my goodness! It’s now one of our favourite dinners we cook on a regular basis and is […]
Not quite ice-cream, not quite a smoothie, and based totally on a piña colada, you won’t want to be without this mango-coconut-lime concoction this summer! Eat straight away with a straw and a spoon, or pop back in the freezer for a few minutes to firm up if you want to scoop it like regular […]
Pork Tonkatsu is a Japanese dish. It is traditionally served with shredded cabbage, pickled vegetables, rice and miso soup as a set. I recently visited Japan for the first time in ten years and fell in love with Tonkatsu again. I never fully appreciated cabbage until I experienced it in Japan. It is a side for many dishes there and demonstrates that something as simple as shredded cabbage with a sauce can be a delicious accompaniment. It can be a welcome alternative to green salad.
The Tonkatsu set was also very popular with our children in our travels, mostly because of the deep fried crunchy meat, and the sticky rice. It is a good meal to practise using chopsticks for that reason. Whilst Tonkatsu usually uses pork fillets, it is also just as nice with chicken.
The humble tomato often gets forgotten as a side dish, but you can guarantee we leave no veg (or fruit for that matter!) behind. Roast tomatoes are a perfect accompaniment to just about anything you can think of and are quick and easy to boot! Any breadcrumb is welcome (the Zeally Bay Sourdough ends make […]
